APAR proudly supports the Dharmsinh Desai Memorial Methodist Heart Institute (DDMM) as its flagship CSR healthcare partner. This collaboration reflects a common vision to bring world-class cardiac care to Nadiad, Gujarat and surrounding regions. The initiative draws deeply from the family’s personal history, Mr. Dharmsinh Desai, Founder of APAR, passed away from a heart attack, and Dr. Narendra Desai himself underwent two bypass surgeries before eventually passing away due to a heart attack. Rather than letting these experiences be in vain, the family chose to transform grief into purpose. Inspired by the world-class care Dr. Narendra Desai received at the Cleveland Clinic, he was determined that people in his hometown should have access to the same level of treatment and expertise.
APAR contributed Rs. 2.20 crore to the project, bringing life‑saving cardiac innovation to DDMM and the wider community. APAR’s contribution enabled the acquisition of sophisticated equipment for minimal access cardiac surgeries, underscoring its commitment to saving lives and improving community health. The program was officially inaugurated on November 29, 2025, by Mr. Kushal Desai, Chairman and Managing Director of APAR, marking a significant milestone in cardiac care innovation and patient-centric treatment at DDMM.
What Minimal Access Cardiac Surgery (also known as keyhole surgery) Means for Patients
The program uses advanced German-made surgical instruments and Siemens AI-enabled imaging systems, along with automated ELISA analysers and ventilatory assist devices for enhanced diagnosis, surgery, and postoperative care. The newly installed minimal access surgery equipment at DDMM marks a significant step toward faster patient recovery:
- Smaller Incisions, Faster Healing: Traditional cardiac surgery requires large midline incisions and splitting the breastbone, leading to long recuperation times of 6-8 weeks. Minimal access surgery uses specialised long instruments through tiny ‘keyhole’ incisions, drastically reducing trauma.
- Advanced Imaging & Visualisation: A telescopic 3D camera system provides surgeons with precise stereophonic views of the heart on monitors, ensuring accuracy in delicate procedures.
- Safe Anaesthesia for Single Lung Ventilation: Specialised anaesthesia workstations safely collapse one lung, making room for instruments while maintaining patient safety.
- 4D Echocardiography with AI: AI-enhanced anatomical heart reconstructions help tailor surgical plans and improve diagnostic accuracy.
- Single Donor Blood Equipment: This cutting-edge technology safely harvests larger quantities of platelets and plasma from a single donor, minimising risks and improving outcomes.
Impact on the Nadiad Region and Beyond
With this technology, hospital stays for cardiac surgeries can be reduced from nearly a week to 3-4 days, while total recovery time drops from several weeks to just 10-14 days. Early discharge and faster recuperation mean patients can return to their families and work earlier, mitigating the social and economic disruptions caused by long-term hospitalisation. This advancement elevates DDMM’s cardiac care standards and benefits the entire community it serves.
The initiative addresses crucial social and economic challenges by reducing hospitalisation duration and facilitating faster recovery, which is vital for daily wage earners, homemakers, and family dependent on the patient’s income.
Inspirational Voices
Mr. Kushal Desai shared, “Innovation and upgradation are key to staying relevant in healthcare. We are committed to support DDMM for continuously integrating new technologies every year to enhance cardiac care and improve patient outcomes. This partnership with DDMM exemplifies our dedication to advancing medical technology for the well-being of our community.”
A New Era of Cardiac Care
The inauguration of this state-of-the-art program symbolises APAR’s and DDMM’s shared commitment to innovation, patient-centric care, and community well-being. This milestone enhances the hospital’s capabilities and reinforces their position as a beacon of hope and healing in Gujarat’s healthcare landscape. Future initiatives include expanding patient access via outreach camps and support groups, partnering with NGOs, and continuous technological upgrades and professional education to sustain high-quality cardiac care.
