Fire resistant/survival cables
Our fire resistant/fire survival cables feature a steel wire/steel wire braiding/corrugated steel tape armour to provide mechanical strength.
Optical cables used in vital communication and emergency systems need to be operational during fires. The outer sheath is made from black UV-stabilised and weather-resistant material, as the cables may be exposed for short periods to diesel, petrol, glycol, ethanol, white spirit and ASTM oil 2. Our fire resistant/fire survival cables feature a steel wire/steel wire braiding/corrugated steel tape armour to provide mechanical strength. The fibres are protected in gel-filled loose tubes stranded around a central strength member, ensuring good performance and long life. Each fibre and loose tube is colour coded to simplify identification during splicing and termination. The outer sheath is suitably marked every one metre, to show the fibre and cable type.
Application | These cables are generally used for fire alarm systems, voice alarms or voice evacuation systems, and in public buildings, tunnels, metro lines where it is necessary for the cables to operate, and for communication to continue in the event of a fire. |

Characteristics | These cables are environment-friendly due to their LSZH and FR cable sheath properties. Moreover, their special layer provides additional protection form fire. |
Applicable standards | IEC 60793, IEC 60794, Telcordia GR -20, TIA/EIA 598, IEC 60331-25, IEC 60332 |
Product range | Offered in G 652.D, G657 A, G655 single mode, OM1,OM2, OM3 and OM4 multi mode. APAR offers 2F to 512 F optical fibre cables, in armoured and unarmoured designs. |
Advantages | The cable ensures operation for 3 hours in fires up to 750ÂşC. The cable is halogen-free and flame retardant, to protect against secondary damage to electronic equipment during and after the fire. |
