Tether cables

APAR has indigenously developed tether cables for surveillance and communication aerostat systems
A tether cable is an electro-optical mechanical cable which holds the balloon at the airborne end and connected to winch and mooring systems at the ground end.

The tether primarily provides strength for holding the balloon. Also it establishes electrical/optical connectivity between the airborne and ground ends. The ground end of the tether is connected to a winch drum through a rotary joint. We are developing different models of Tether Cables which are longer and can take higher load : these can be used for aerostat surveillance systems at international borders. Needless to say, such items are produced by very few international manufacturers: developing such specialty products is a matter of pride for us.
Application Tether Cables are used in both commercial and military markets for a variety of applications like military ground defence surveillance, border security, renewable energy wind turbines and the broadcast entertainment industry.
Characteristics Tether Cables are used in both commercial and military markets for a variety of applications like military ground defence surveillance, border security, renewable energy wind turbines and the broadcast entertainment industry.
Applicable standards IEC 60793, IEC 60794, Telcordia GR -20, TIA/EIA 598
Product range APAR offers a wide range of Tether Cable from 6 Optical and 4 Power, 3 Optical and 4 Power Core to 1 Optical and 2 Power Core. Based on client requirements, the range includes cables with tensile force from 1KN to 18 KN and height from 1 km to 5 Km. APAR offers SM G652D, G657A or G655 with Single Mode Fibre as well as Multimode Fibre OM 1, OM 2, OM 3 or OM 4.
Advantages Thanks to modern fibre optic-based equipments, Tether Aerostats are excellent mobile platforms for surveillance, communication and early warning systems. They can be either sea or land-based mobile systems flying as high as 5 km, much greater reach in altitude than alternatives like terrestrial towers. The aerostat system can accommodate active or passive monitoring devices that are designed to solve complex problems and control as well as protect coastal areas and forests. As applied to internet coverage, our systems are configured to meet the requirements of a specific area like a city. A full range of direct broadcast-to-user services (WIFI, cell phone, TV, AM/FM, mobile radios and so on ) can be provided from the platform, blanketing an area in excess of 130,000 sq km (diameter area: 400 km).
